  • Once Great. Now Poor.

Since the departure of Caleb Brown, this podcast has been in a death spiral. Caleb brought clarity, coherence, and a disciplined commitment to intellectual honesty. His absence exposes how much of the podcast’s credibility rested on his stewardship.

Discussions that once challenged assumptions with sharp inquiry now drift through MAGA talking points with little depth.

The shift in tone is disappointing. This show increasingly sounds apologetic toward the current administration, softening criti... more

  • Expected better

I gave this a try expecting thoughtful, libertarian discussion—but it came across as oddly partisan and more conservative than I anticipated. Hard to tell if this was just a bad sample or if the tone has shifted overall, but it wasn’t what I expected from Cato.

  • You’re hatred of Trump is apparent

Spin the derangement narrative some more. Cato is less and less libertarian and more and more leftist.

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Social Security’s Popularity Problem
Q: What did you find about Americans' understanding of the program's funding?
Americans are aware of benefit cuts but underestimate the severity of the funding shortfall.
Social Security’s Popularity Problem
Q: How do they think it works?
Most Americans view it as a mandatory retirement savings program rather than a welfare program.
Feeding AI's Energy Appetite
Q: Do you have any responses to that from kind of the energy policy perspective?
I think it's really unfortunate timing on behalf of the data center industry, that it's almost like it's a coincidence.
Feeding AI's Energy Appetite
Q: Is this something they should be concerned about these frivolous uses or how do you look at this from an energy policy?
First of all, I want people to absolve themselves of the guilt of using energy for things like AI.
Free Speech and Domestic Tranquility
Q: So, given the record of failure of Peronism is kind of clear for all to see, why is it so enduring in Argentina?
Peronism's endurance is attributed to its stronghold in certain regions, regulatory capture, and the complexities involved in changing a long-standing economic system.
