I was looking for a Christ-centered, faith-based podcast that coheres with mental health. This is not it. There are helpful worldly tips on mental health, if that’s what you’re looking for.
Unfortunately, Christianity and shame go hand in hand. They shouldn’t, but they do. Steve was a pastor and tried to kill himself. I was a pastor and tried to kill myself. It’s not as rare as you think. Getting to the root of shame has been HUGE for me (and I’m not there yet), and Steve’s material continues to help.
Steve's been there and done that. He's lived some of the tough stuff. Despite reasons to be cynical, he delivers healthy doses of hope each episode. This podcast is a practical pick-me-up.
I wept the first time I listened to Steve’s podcast. If there has ever been an example of suffering recycled, it can surely be found in Steve’s own journey.
