  • Love the show, hate the ep titles

This is a great show, but you need to stop giving away the results in the episode titles. Not everyone eg. us Aussies get to watch the games live as they’re on during our workday. So it’s really annoying to open my podcast app to find something to listen to on the drive home, and see the latest ep in the feed with the result right there. Please keep the titles neutral eg “Stanley Cup playoff XX vs YY Game 3”. Go Canes!!

  • Excellent Canes podcast

Adam is an automatic listen after every Canes game for me. His hockey knowledge (and knowledge of the team) is excellent. I also appreciate that he never gets too high or low in his assessments - he tries to shoot people straight. If you’re a Canes fan and not regularly listening, you’re missing out.

  • Great show.

I like that you love the team and have connections but also not afraid to criticize the team either. Might not agree with everything you say but definitely agree with most of them. Keep up the great work.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Summer of Nikishin: A Hurricanes dilemma
Q: What impact could Gostaspierre's potential extension have on Nikishin's negotiations and overall team construction?
Extending Gostaspierre could lock in a key power-play quarterback, potentially making it more palatable to pay Nikishin at a similar level if his value is backed by a strong offensive game and playoff contributions; otherwise, the team might balance keeping Nikishin with letting Gostaspierre go elsewhere.
The Summer of Nikishin: A Hurricanes dilemma
Q: What are the main comps you're considering for Nikishin's pay range, and how do they compare to players like Hutson or Hughes?
The discussion compares Nikishin to players like Lane Hutson, Jackson Lacombe, Luke Hughes, and Owen Power, noting similarities in age and trajectory, and suggesting Nikishin could command a similar ballpark, possibly just under eight million annually depending on the year length and development.
The Summer of Nikishin: A Hurricanes dilemma
Q: How do you see Alexander Nikishin fitting into the Hurricanes' long-term plans given the eight-year type of deals he's being linked with?
The pundit argues that Nikishin could become a top-pair defenseman, but for now a two-year bridge could buy Carolina time to evaluate his ceiling and fit with Gostaspierre, while potentially avoiding overcommitment until more is known.
Canes take 2-0 lead with 3-2 overtime win over the Flyers
Q: What was the key to winning despite not bringing their best tonight?
The host and guests agreed that staying composed, sticking to a strong defensive game, and not playing scared in overtime were crucial, with Freddie Andersen's goaltending anchoring the effort and the line changes eventually producing offensive momentum.
Canes sign Bussi to 3-year contract
Q: What has been the best moment really as a hurricane?
From day one, when I stepped in to the locker room, all the boys accepted me in and I was part of the family.
