  • Yikes

This is one of those podcasts people talk about when they say not everyone should have a microphone.

I tried to get into it thinking it would be informative and worthwhile, but I was sorely mistaken.

Katelyn Burns is even worse on social media than she is on her podcast. The way she responds to criticism is… well, it’s something.

You’ll often see her on the “wrong side” of issues especially if any of her friends are involved. At the end of the day, she’d rather defend people she knows than s... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Bari Weiss vs. Anderson Cooper: Both Are Overseers. Here's Why. (ft. Steven Thrasher)
Q: What do you hope readers take away from The Overseer Class?
That power dynamics in media are not neutral; they are crafted through decisions, relationships, and histories, and understanding these can lead to more accountable journalism and more inclusive, courageous platforms for marginalized voices.
Bari Weiss vs. Anderson Cooper: Both Are Overseers. Here's Why. (ft. Steven Thrasher)
Q: Can you give an example from your experience that illustrates self-censorship within journalism?
A striking example is journalists refraining from covering Palestine or trans rights due to anticipated professional consequences, which demonstrates how personal career concerns can override rigorous reporting and open discussion.
Bari Weiss vs. Anderson Cooper: Both Are Overseers. Here's Why. (ft. Steven Thrasher)
Q: How do you see the overseer and driver dynamics showing up in American media today?
The overseer/drier framework shows that editors, anchors, and gatekeepers steer discourse by selecting which voices are heard and which narratives are sidelined, with power often resting in editorial choices and institutional alignments rather than pure objectivity.
Right-Wing Media Is Dying (But Don't Celebrate Yet) (ft. Parker Molloy)
Q: Parker, what do you think is driving the drop in right-wing media viewership and how does this relate to the broader media ecosystem?
It's a combination of audience saturation, the migration to clip culture, and the reality that billionaires and big tech are reshaping what gets promoted. Traditional outlets struggle to stay relevant when younger audiences prefer quick, incendiary clips from independent creators who bypass legacy institutions.
The Onion Bought InfoWars. Now What? (ft. Ben Collins, CEO of The Onion)
Q: Why did it take a comedy company to bring down Alex Jones?
Because mainstream media had largely treated Jones as a subject rather than a threat, and the Onion could leverage satire, scale, and a different kind of narrative power to counter his influence and expose the business model behind his disinformation.
