  • Yikes

This is one of those podcasts people talk about when they say not everyone should have a microphone.

I tried to get into it thinking it would be informative and worthwhile, but I was sorely mistaken.

Katelyn Burns is even worse on social media than she is on her podcast. The way she responds to criticism is… well, it’s something.

You’ll often see her on the “wrong side” of issues especially if any of her friends are involved. At the end of the day, she’d rather defend people she knows than s... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

They Printed a Zine. The DOJ Gave Them 450 Years. (ft. Melissa Gira Grant)
Q: What role did specific DOJ officials and political actors play in shaping these charges, and how might Todd Blanch influence future cases?
Officials within the DOJ and political appointees pushed for aggressive prosecutions, with messaging and press releases to sustain a narrative of threat. Incoming AG Todd Blanch is seen as potentially amplifying or continuing these patterns, which could broaden the scope of charges against protesters and reformulate how protest is treated under federal law.
They Printed a Zine. The DOJ Gave Them 450 Years. (ft. Melissa Gira Grant)
Q: Can you walk us through the July 4th noise demonstration at Prairieland and how the government framed it as a threat?
The protest evolved from a peaceful daytime demonstration to a 'noise demonstration' at the detention center, but the government escalated it by treating participants as if they orchestrated a larger conspiracy, eventually charging many with attempted murder, terrorism, and racketeering based on associations and alleged plans rather than direct violence.
The Leftist Men Who Made Graham Platner a Star (ft. Marisa Kabas)
Q: Can you talk us through what got you to your conclusions about Platner?
The guest outlines a progression from initial excitement to realization that Platner was surrounded by advisors who didn't vet him, and that the alleged misconduct and manipulative campaign tactics revealed a dangerous pattern.
Bari Weiss vs. Anderson Cooper: Both Are Overseers. Here's Why. (ft. Steven Thrasher)
Q: What do you hope readers take away from The Overseer Class?
That power dynamics in media are not neutral; they are crafted through decisions, relationships, and histories, and understanding these can lead to more accountable journalism and more inclusive, courageous platforms for marginalized voices.
Bari Weiss vs. Anderson Cooper: Both Are Overseers. Here's Why. (ft. Steven Thrasher)
Q: Can you give an example from your experience that illustrates self-censorship within journalism?
A striking example is journalists refraining from covering Palestine or trans rights due to anticipated professional consequences, which demonstrates how personal career concerns can override rigorous reporting and open discussion.
