  • Poor sound quality

Pretty good content, but you really need to work on the audio. Whenever you have a guest with any bit of an accent, it’s very hard to understand them. The accent will always be hard, but I feel like it is just as much tinny sound quality. Fiona Hill’s audio was particularly bad. I had to slow to .75 to understand her.

  • Good info with a big ol’ slant to the left

Been listening for quite a while. It’s become pretty apparent how far left these two are. Under Biden this podcast was positive, even praising of a presidency that was such an obvious failure. Day 1 of the Trump presidency these two are so over the top arrogant about how badly Trump is doing. I’m not actually claiming he is or isn’t but having listened for such a long time I’m not sure they even realize how slanted they are toward the Democratic Party. It’s your typical leftist coverage that we ... more

  • Timely and good selection of guests

I’m a long-time listener and subscriber and the content of this podcast is consistently on point. My one complaint is that the hosts tend to ask long-winded questions of their guests. It seems that they are struggling to understand what question they want to ask and to decide the various ways to ask it. They could improve the podcast by advance planning. Stop elaborating and explaining and ask a simple question.

  • More Leftwing Foreign Policy

This podcast is full of liberal talking points. The intellectual rigor is freshmen college level and there is rarely if ever any time spent on original thought. If you are a fan of failed liberal foreign policy, this podcast is for you. If you live in the real world and look for intellectual rigor, original thought and potential solutions for global challenges, go somewhere else.

Yes, the epicenter of the battle between autocracies and democracies is currently in Europe, particularly in Ukraine.
Mike McFaul on Autocrats vs Democrats
Q: Are we in a new Cold War?
Yes and no; there are similarities to the Cold War, but there are also significant differences that must be acknowledged.
Wess Mitchell on The Return of Diplomacy to Great Power Competition
Q: Why do you think the Biden administration has been slow to exert more pressure on Russia?
The constraints being perceived are about escalating tensions with a nuclear power, guiding the administration's diplomatic strategy carefully to not explode the current process too rapidly.
Wess Mitchell on The Return of Diplomacy to Great Power Competition
Q: What crisis after the Cold War do you think really lent itself to the diplomacy you're talking about, and that we missed an opportunity to go the diplomatic route?
The structural conditions after the Cold War, in some ways it was inevitable that the United States would gravitate more towards the military tool and economic sanctions because classical diplomacy is necessitated by competitive environments.
