  • Exceptional

Much like its corresponding magazine, I’ve found The FA Interview to be not only informative, but fascinating. Dan Kurtz-Phelan is a top-tier host, and featured guests offer unique perspectives and biases on a range of issues. The show is a wonderful tool in developing and understanding one’s own worldview.

  • Disappointed. Robert O’Brien?

The latest show was shocking. I believe that your listeners are well-educated, more open minded than average population and willing to hear POVs that go against their own. However, "The strength of Trump foreign policy" was such a cheap Maga propaganda that was terrible. Low level, unintelligent, nauseating even. I expected more from you.

  • This is the one

Outstansing show. Host is neutral and eloquent. Guests are informed experts. No agenda. No bias. Other global affairs podcasts should take note. Always a joy to listen.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How the Past Shadows China’s Future
Q: What lessons do you think Xi takes from the Qing Dynasty?
Xi and other leaders likely draw lessons about managing their rise as a great power and the importance of modernizing to avoid decline, similar to lessons learned from the Qing era.
How the Past Shadows China’s Future
Q: Has Xi Jinping changed that trajectory in any essential ways?
Xi Jinping has intensified the presentation of China's global significance but hasn't fundamentally altered the overall trajectory of Chinese foreign policy compared to his predecessors.
How the Past Shadows China’s Future
Q: How do you understand Chinese aims and how expansive those aims are?
The current Chinese leadership strategy is straightforward; they want to become the predominant power in Eastern Asia and the Western Pacific, although there's little evidence of a deliberate strategy to replace the United States as a global dominant power.
The Fear and Weakness at the Heart of Trump’s Strategy
Q: Why is it concerning when Trump talks about the military and uses it for law enforcement?
Using military force for law enforcement can undermine public confidence in the military and erode civil-military relations, straining the constitutional framework.
The Fear and Weakness at the Heart of Trump’s Strategy
Q: What do you think the implications of the National Security Strategy are?
The National Security Strategy assumes the U.S. can be a terrible ally while expecting other nations to assist in achieving its goals, which is fundamentally flawed.
