  • Seriously?

If you want something a little less parochial get the podcasts-Business Daily-Business Matters and World Business Reports from BBC World Service and Marketplace with Ky Risdall from NPR. They make Newstalk sound like amateur hour.

Q: What do we know about the proposals from the Environment Minister, Dara O'Brien?
The government is waiting for the national planning statement to guide councils on exemptions and what will be included; there is discussion about a 20,000 population threshold affecting planning permissions and potential grandfather rules for those in business for more than seven years.
Frank Doheny CEO of Veonet Ireland
Q: How could the HSE and Ireland adopt this model—could it be deployed in more remote areas?
The mobile units can be deployed quickly, can run a diagnostic clinic in the morning and be a fully operational theater in the afternoon, and could be set up in areas outside major hospitals to bring eye care closer to patients.
Frank Doheny CEO of Veonet Ireland
Q: So tell us more about what Veonet does.
Veonet operates Europe's largest clinical and surgical ophthalmology network, using mobile units to deliver eye care with both private and public patients, and expanding into Ireland to provide accessible, efficient services with ophthalmologists leading the care.
Alan Tyrell Chief Executive of the Reputations Agency
Q: I'd love to know the methodology of how you calculated this list of the top 100 companies in Ireland by perception.
We used the Ireland Reputation Index, which surveys 5,000 members of the public over a set period, rating the 100 most important organizations on factors connected to esteem, admiration, trust, and feeling, with emphasis on informed opinions to ensure meaningful results.
Alessandro Gropelli Director General of Connect Europe
Q: As in cross-border mergers?
The discussion suggests that consolidation could improve competition and offers for customers, while acknowledging how market fragmentation in Europe challenges scale and efficiency.
