Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Are we focusing too much on qualifications and not on skills?
Q: Do you see micro-credentials growing in importance relative to traditional qualifications, and what challenges do you see for the education system in keeping up?
Micro-credentials are already central to the learning landscape due to accessibility and the ability to update quickly. The traditional system is slower to adapt and needs to accelerate incorporation of contemporary skills and platforms to remain relevant for employers and students alike.
Are we focusing too much on qualifications and not on skills?
Q: First off, Olivia, how do you decide what new skills are needed at Allison in line with trends or market demand? How do you decide that?
We start by listening to our listeners and learners, recognizing that AI and other tech trends create demand early. We see a sizable portion of our learners in STEM and respond by offering relevant AI upskilling and by tracking regulatory changes to ensure courses stay aligned with what employers need.
Why social media trends are impacting prescription medicines.
Q: And what is the size of the pharma industry relative to the wellness industry?
The pharma industry is enormous, worth about 1.4 trillion dollars, but the wellness industry is even larger, valued at around 6.3 trillion, illustrating how迅 social media marketing and lifestyle trends have propelled wellness products to outsized market presence despite looser regulation.
Why social media trends are impacting prescription medicines.
Q: And what do you do then as a pharmacist to identify dangerous medicine and supplement interactions?
Pharmacists must ask patients directly about any herbal supplements since many products sit on the periphery of beauty and wellness markets; and they assess potential interactions by considering what medications the patient is taking and advising accordingly, encouraging an open conversation to determine if the product is safe and beneficial.
What are the benefits of having Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Professional Networks?
Q: Amy, what is the idea behind this new network?
The network exists to create a space for people working in EDI to come together, share what's working, discuss challenges, and potentially collaborate, in order to support each other and advance best practices across organisations.
