Michela is very genuine and generous with her community. It takes a lot of vulnerability to open up about areas of growth, personal finance and (from one of her last episodes) loneliness. We’re all navigating different challenges and I think she’s brave for putting hers in the public sphere. Plus, she offers actionable tips and strategies. Appreciate her perspective!
I struggle to follow this podcast. She has good information but is coming from an extremely privileged mindset and fails to acknowledge this in many ways. Yes, absolutely she has worked hard but still very privileged and it shows… There are other money podcasts out there that speak in an informed way without pointing shame towards a person and ignoring systemic issues. Others may not feel this way and there is still lots to gain from this podcast, but this is my experience.
I discovered @breakyourbudget and Michela pretty recently, and instantly fell in love with her content and podcast. I love love love how she tells it how it is and isnt afraid to hide anything, whether that’s finance-related or simply life related. She’s relatable, and I feel like every 20-something year old should be listening to her podcast and consuming her content in order to get their finances/life on track earlier in life. I also feel like I am chatting to a good friend (tbh wish I was her... more
The Podcast host specifically states at the end of her episodes to not write critiques to her publicly, so be aware that these reviews are likely skewed. I’ve listened to a number of episodes and she seems to spend limited time actually discussing financial advice and most of it comes from a place of privilege she rarely acknowledges, which feels odd and unhelpful? She rarely brings on people who disagree with her and seems fairly sheltered in her cultural perspective. If you’re looking for trul... more
I have owned the PFD for a few years and now found Michaela’s podcast. She’s direct, smart and thoughtful. I am in my 40’s and find wisdom and enjoyment in her episodes even though I’m not her usual demographic. The podcast is informative and enjoyable to listen to. It’s everything I wish I knew in my 20’s.
