Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 11: Alexander Torrenegra: Why Geography No Longer Determines Talent
Q: With AI and the shift to remote work, what long-term trends do you see for Latin America's role in the global economy?
AI will automate a large portion of white-collar tasks over the next two decades, but adoption will be gradual. Latin America has the potential to lead in global tech talent and nearshoring, especially as local ecosystems mature, communication improves, and regional collaboration increases. The key is building globally relevant capabilities and networks rather than merely copying Silicon Valley.
Ep 11: Alexander Torrenegra: Why Geography No Longer Determines Talent
Q: Walk me through your story of being born in Candelaria, in Bogota. What changed in Colombia and in you as you've built companies around the world?
I grew up in La Candelaria, Bogotá, and my path was shaped by both local realities and global opportunities. I migrated to the US after building initial ventures, which exposed me to a broader ecosystem. Over time, I shifted from regional focus to creating platforms that connect Latin American talent with global opportunities, enabled by remote work and a more globalized workforce.
Ep 8: Joshua Rotbart: The New Geography of Gold
Q: Is there a role for silver in portfolios alongside gold?
Silver is underpriced relative to gold and offers diversification and industrial uses, but it is more volatile and suitable for a smaller portion of the portfolio (e.g., 20% silver, 80% gold).
Ep 8: Joshua Rotbart: The New Geography of Gold
Q: What is one misconception about Hong Kong you wish the world understood?
That China has silenced Hong Kong; in reality, Hong Kong remains freer than many economies if you avoid political topics.
Ep 8: Joshua Rotbart: The New Geography of Gold
Q: What did living in Hong Kong for the last 15 years teach you that the West never could?
Rotbart says efficiency, courtesy, and freedom in Hong Kong, along with a non-judgmental environment as core advantages not as strongly present in the West.
