Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Author Spotlight: Cam Sullivan
Q: What was your writing routine like, and did you have rituals to get into the zone?
I work without my phone nearby, in public spaces like cafes or libraries for accountability, and I let the writing come up immediately when I sit down, rather than sticking to a rigid plan that might distract me from the page.
Author Spotlight: Cam Sullivan
Q: How did you approach writing across three timelines without losing the reader?
I planned the timelines carefully, using distinct narrative strategies and a strong board of interconnected notes so that each timeline could illuminate the others, while maintaining suspense through carefully spaced disclosures.
Author Spotlight: Cam Sullivan
Q: Where did you get the inspiration for this story and the Beast of Geberdon?
The historical Beast of Geberdon was a real event in 1760s France, and I wanted to ground the fantasy in that documented chaos, using it as a seed to create an ancestral monster hunter and a memoir-style narrator who links past and present.
Author Spotlight: Ashley Bennett
Q: What inspired your character Atlas in *Muscles and Monsters*?
Her inspiration came from a character in the anime *Beastars*, wanting to write a character who is a 'wolf man' all the time without the traditional werewolf aspect.
Author Spotlight: Ashley Bennett
Q: What initially drew you to romance as a writer?
Ashley shares that during COVID-19, she discovered the *Akatar* series which opened her world to romance books, leading her to embrace the genre and eventually write her own stories.
