  • Best Podcast 🙌🏼👏🏼

As a cannabis biology and chemistry student attending university this podcast is extremely inspiring. Hearing what Dr. Kirk has done and continues to do gives me hope that cannabis will become more widely accepted and appreciated for its medicinal values. In addition how she is able to describe everything is chefs kiss, personally i am able to grasp the concepts that she explains… where as in lecture i have to go back watch videos and take extra notes. Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Should THC Be a Range Instead of One Number? with guest Ben Cleary
Q: What is the practical approach to creating a reliable range; how many samples and which plant parts should be included to represent a cultivar?
A representative sampling protocol would include top, middle, and bottom sections from multiple plants, with a large enough sample size (e.g., 30 reps) to capture distribution. The goal is to derive a confidence-bounded range that reflects real-world product variation while allowing adjustments as COA data evolve.
Should THC Be a Range Instead of One Number? with guest Ben Cleary
Q: Do you think Canada could implement range-based labeling across all products, not just THC, and what would adoption look like in practice?
Yes, it could, starting with a framework where Licensed Producers (LPs) own and validate ranges using their COAs and a standardized protocol. Regulators would need to accept range evidence, ensure testing methods are accredited, and support a phased rollout that includes education for retailers and consumers.
New Research on Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome (CHS) with Dr. Codi Peterson and Megan Mbengue
Q: What is CHS and how does it present in the ED?
CHS is a complex, multi-phase condition characterized by cycles of nausea and vomiting in heavy cannabis users, with prodromal GI symptoms and morning onset; doctors should consider prodromal symptoms alongside hyperemetic episodes to improve diagnosis.
Beyond Caffeine: The Hidden Chemistry of Coffee with Dr. Steven Helschien (Dr. Coffee)
Q: Is there evidence that decaf coffee still provides health benefits like regular coffee, or does decaf negate those benefits?
Decaf still contains antioxidants and offers health benefits, though caffeine content is much lower; processing methods (like Swiss water) can affect acidity and other compounds, but many benefits persist albeit to a lesser degree.
Schedule 3, Hemp Bans, and Cannabis Law with Thomas Howard
Q: Do you think it's going to ever be practical, or maybe with Schedule 3, that cannabis could be covered under any health insurance programs?
We might be able to get marijuana in a regulated stream of commerce for Schedule 3, but it will require legislation and could take many years.
