Going To College to Become a Cannabis Scientist with Guest Alex Eckman
Q: Did you feel like you were ready to enter the cannabis industry after finishing school?
Yes, I felt ready and had valuable connections made through my university.
Flavonoids in Cannabis: Introducing Cannflavins
Q: What are flavonoids? What is, and I don't know if you want to start with cannabis flavonoids because you just kind of alluded that they're everywhere in our human experience.
Russ defines flavonoids as compounds commonly found in fruits and vegetables, with roles in plant health and human nutrition, contributing color, UV protection, and antioxidant properties.
Flavonoids in Cannabis: Introducing Cannflavins
Q: Can you kind of describe what you're talking about of building a tolerance to more than THC and how what other things in the flower might be contributing to what we think about tolerance?
Russ explains that tolerance in cannabis isn't only due to THC; other compounds like terpenes and flavonoids can also influence the effects felt and that tolerance builds to the various chemicals consumed in cannabis.
Cannabis and Geriatric Care with Dr. Janice Makela, MD PART TWO: Sleep & Mental Health
Q: For folks in institutions, I would like to hear the approach to navigating the regulations and resistance since loss of funding is profoundly impacting our elders.
Navigating regulations is difficult due to cannabis being federally illegal, especially in institutions that take Medicare funding, which cannot allow cannabis use.
Cannabis and Geriatric Care with Dr. Janice Makela
Q: What is the ideal dosage to start with for geriatric patients?
Start with low doses, typically around 2.5 mg, and gradually titrate up depending on the patient's response.
