Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

David DeSilva - Archaeology, Jesus, and Paul
Q: Are there any big outstanding questions in New Testament textual scholarship that could use archaeology?
Unfortunately, archaeology does not help much; unlike the Old Testament, early Christian groups were small and left minimal traces in the archaeological record.
David DeSilva - Archaeology, Jesus, and Paul
Q: What led you to these particular books, the impetus to writing these?
Part of the answer is my narcissistic personality, wanting to do better than existing resources which often lack visual elements that would help people preparing for trips or studying archaeology in relation to New Testament contexts.
Kyle Keimer - Misunderstanding Sacrifice (part 2)
Q: Do you have a way of seeing how archaeologists can even go about answering that question?
Yes, we can get into it, and what it requires is doing a bit of the theoretical work of looking at what anthropologists have done with religion.
Kyle Keimer - Misunderstanding Sacrifice (part 2)
Q: So if you want part one, you can go over to the OnScript feed and listen to part one that I recorded with Dru Johnson, and this one is with Kyle Keimer, who is a host of Biblical World.
Kyle brings a comprehensive list of some myths that from an archaeological perspective, we should be tuned in to.
Mary Buck - The Assyrian Period
Q: What was the impact of the Assyrian Empire on the Northern tribes?
The Northern tribes of Israel were deported and mixed populations were introduced.
