This podcast was fantastic and you three had so much great information and insight into this species. I’m a proud member of NAPA and love the holistic approach to conserving this landscape and the positive effect it will have on all grassland species. Keep em coming Hal!
I sure appreciate all of Cal’s work advocating and opposing public land sales, but why the softball interview questions a month ago with Sheehy?Firefighters see right through him. Every letter I write to the Montana delegation gets a response that starts with public land support and ends with a “we will look into it.” They both voted to slash PBS funding after saying how important it was in Montana, and they will do the same with public land sales…
Listen to the Ron Mills podcast for the second time. Love this podcast. The stories are so interesting and fun, and bring us all back to a better time!
These podcasts ALWAYS educates on a variety of conservation related subjects. Hal is so laid back and obviously very well read and intelligent. So very glad I found the podcast.
Great episode and overview of a wonderful place…I have done, and continue to do, lots of trail work in the burn scars there, and one conversation that was missing is that the FS is allowing the trails to completely disappear to the point of disintegrating access. There is a preservationist side of the agency that wants this, and the Gila burn scars will oblige unless dealt with more assertively. Access is disappearing there, and there aren’t near as many trails as the maps show.

The show centers on public lands, hunting, fishing, and conservation, featuring conversations with outdoors writers, scientists, policy experts, and industry voices.
