  • Love the pod

I love this podcast I just wish they didn’t the last airbender. When i first heard of this podcast the first movie that came to mind was the last airbender movie and they won’t do it for some reason.

  • Unrelenting Optimism

Excellent podcast with a couple of friends who not only find the best in mediocre or poor movie, but actually make compelling arguments for the good in them.

It's very easy to lisen to and there are some good laughs to be had. This podcast is fantastic light entertainment that doesn't take itself too seriously.

  • An Internet Oasis

Even though it seems easier to tear a “bad” movie down, Best Of The Rest showcases the best intentions of the film makers.

The hosts have a great banter, and the show has my favorite new thing in podcasting, “The Mark Strong Award”(which showcases the best acting in the film). Some movies have obvious MVPs, but The Mark Strong can go to anyone in the cast bringing their A game.

Give this show a listen. The positivity might just feel good for a change.

  • Great show!

I’ve listened to every episode that I’ve seen the movie for and have been watching movies just so I can listen to the best of the rest crew.

I was worried initially that there wouldn’t be much depth of conversation without the ability to criticize the movies, but those fears were unfounded!

Always a great convo and always leaves me feeling better than when I started.

  • Mystery Men

I loved this episode! My older brother and I rented this movie shortly after it came out. I was about 20, and he was about 30. We weren’t very close and we’re a little awkward around each other. We watched this movie 2 or 3 times in a row late at night, laughing hysterically and bonding. Since then it has been one of my favorite movies! I loved your review!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sphere
Q: Are film adaptations generally good, or do they frequently miss key elements of the books they come from?
They acknowledge that adaptation quality varies widely; some adaptations excel by leveraging the visual medium, while others fail to capture the book's essence, illustrating why applicability depends on each individual work rather than a universal rule.
Sphere
Q: Do you agree that the book is always better than the movie?
No, the hosts argue that while some adaptations are stronger in book form, there are many cases where the film surpasses its source or offers a different, equally valid experience, making the blanket rule unreliable.
Half Baked
Q: You're casting a new Cannonball Run remake. Who are your leads?
They propose Ryan Gosling as Burt Reynolds and Russell Crowe as Dom DeLuise, with additional discussion about other duos and potential casting to fit a late-70s LA PI vibe, suggesting a playful, star-studded ensemble rather than a faithful one-to-one remake.
Friday The 13th
Q: Best documentary ever?
The hosts discuss various documentaries, leaning towards favorites like 'King of Kong' and mentioning Ken Burns' works as significant.
Airheads
Q: What is a movie franchise? Like, how would you define it?
A movie franchise is generally defined as movies starring the same character or universe of characters made by a specific studio.
