Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Has Architecture Lost Its Nerve? - Austin Williams | RIBA Elections
Q: What experiences in your career have led you to put yourself forward as a candidate?
A long history in architecture and education, including practice as a site architect, experience in journalism and film, teaching at Kingston School of Art, and involvement with professional practice education, which together shaped a broad, grounded perspective on the profession.
Overcoming Architecture’s Biggest Challenge - Jay Morton | RIBA Elections
Q: What do you see as the actual role of the RIBA today, and particularly the role of the president?
The president should be a loud advocate for architecture and architects, a conduit between members and the institution, and a driver of policy engagement beyond the architectural press. The aim is to empower members, simplify how the institution supports campaign and advocacy work, and expand the profession's influence in government and public discourse.
Overcoming Architecture’s Biggest Challenge - Jay Morton | RIBA Elections
Q: What experiences in your career have led you here and given you the idea of putting yourself forward for RIBA presidency?
I'm a practising architect and director at Bell Phillips Architects with a long history of advocacy through housing campaigns and policy work. I've stood for election to push for architecture in government because there are too few architects in parliament, and I want to use the presidency to amplify the profession's voice and its value.
How to Accelerate your Architecture Career in 2026 - Noris Obijiaku
Q: What do you think other architects could learn about storytelling from your experiences?
Storytelling should feel personal and immersive—take viewers along on the journey, show the excitement and discovery, and let lived experiences of residents shape how spaces are understood and designed.
How to Accelerate your Architecture Career in 2026 - Noris Obijiaku
Q: You visit many London estates. Which one has the most interesting story?
Alexander and Aintov Estate in Camden stood out for its distinctive design, its high cost, and the deep stories residents shared about living there, which highlighted the human dimension behind architectural choices.
