  • Fantastic Weekly Show

Great weekly show, gives fantastic indepth information. Sidenote, @bizooka, the person who mentioned holding Ariel and Rueven twitter usage against them. Grow up, you’re a child, it’s immature losers like you that are the reason this country is so divided.

  • My favorite of all fantasy baseball pods

Have really enjoyed the breadth of knowledge that Ariel and Reuven have brought to the table for a few years now. The smartest Podcast I listen to.

Very disappointing to see them still on the hellscape formally known as twitter — do think a little less of them for it.

Q: What was your main takeaway regarding soft tissue injuries during spring training?
Spring training injuries can often be undervalued, as they can cause players to drop a round or two in the draft when they may only miss a short period of time.

Q: How do you draft injured players? What kind of risk should you be taking?
You shouldn't really shy away from it at the right cost. It depends on your team construct and how much room you have on your bench.
Beat the Shift Podcast – Outfield & THE BAT Episode w/ Derek Carty
Q: What are the main components that go into projecting players?
Carty outlines traditional systems which typically incorporate regression to the mean, yearly weighting, and aging curves, emphasizing the importance of accounting for sample size.
Beat the Shift Podcast – Outfield & THE BAT Episode w/ Derek Carty
Q: How did you get involved in projections to begin with?
Derek Carty shares that he has been in the industry for nearly 20 years and started projections after being inspired by the book Moneyball to combine math and sports.
Beat the Shift Podcast – OOPSY Episode w/ Jordan Rosenblum
Q: How do you do stolen bases?
I've gotten quite heavily weighted, and I basically have a separate regression amount for stolen base attempts and stolen base success rate.
