  • Good info, bad production

These guys know a lot about baseball, but they don’t know anything about producing a podcast. The volume balance between the guys speaking is terrible. I have to turn the volume all the way down when the host is speaking and I have to turn it all the way up when is guest is speaking. Come on guys get it together.

  • Not Good Anymore

Erickson is incredibly annoying with his lame fantasy baseball nerd circle jokes. Learn to pronounce players’ names correctly, please. In what English language usage is “Marsee” pronounced “Mar-SAY” like he’s a French soccer team? Saying “SCARF” isn’t funny every time you do it. Just go away, let Link or Anderson host the show.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Underrated MiLB Prospects w/ JT
Q: What makes Jeremy Cabrera a buy, in your view, given the data at High A and the early numbers at AA?
Cabrera shows a well-rounded skillset with bat-to-ball skills, multi-position potential, and a path to contributing both offensively and defensively; his upside is amplified by his youth and continued growth, making him worth targeting in trades for the right price.
Underrated MiLB Prospects w/ JT
Q: So tell me about Velasquez and what you see at the AAA level.
Velasquez is very young for AAA, showing solid plate discipline and growth from AA, but the AAA results have been a mixed bag with more aggressive approach and some power development still catching up; the consensus is he could become an everyday player, albeit perhaps not as a rookie, with continued patience.
Reviewing Risky Picks with Jenny Butler
Q: How do you evaluate players like Nick Kurtz or James Wood who show elite tools but high strikeout rates?
We weigh the strikeout risk against their hard-hit rates, walk rates, and age; if the other tools are compelling and there's a clear path to improved plate discipline, they can be buys, but usually with lower cost and flexible roster spots.
Reviewing Risky Picks with Jenny Butler
Q: Is it worth taking a risk on elite pitchers in the first round if they have an injury history?
It can be worth it for truly elite pitchers with durable track records or elite skills; otherwise, the risk often outweighs the potential gains, especially when injuries have limited durability over two years.
Reviewing Risky Picks with Jenny Butler
Q: Given these injury risk assessments, when would you start considering injury-prone players in a draft?
Typically not before the first five rounds; after that, it depends on the rest of your roster and the draft cost you're willing to absorb, but the consensus is to be cautious with high-risk players early.
