  • Too gleeful about serious matters

Just listened to 3 episodes to give it a fair go. I really like the content; covering interesting and important themes. However, the tone of the presenters feels too gleeful and excited at points. Discussing the deaths of 4 young men to be intercepted by the odd snigger about something trivial is disrespectful. If I was a family member I would be disappointed that my family member’s death was not treated with more gravitas.

  • When is next season?

Came across this pod over Christmas and I’m hooked, devoured it all in a month. Very keen to know when the next series will drop. I feel it’s the perfect combination of evocative storytelling and real world connections from new host Amber and the harder facts from Julia. Excited for more!

  • Ruined

This new presenter. The voice going up at the end etc etc. Like listening to a teenager. And the awful telling of the Tesco Clubcard story.

Such a shame because it was a good show.

    Now painful and immature sounding.

  • Really disappointed with new format

This podcast went from being insightful, academic and funny to surface drivel akin to My Favorite Murder and their glorification of crime.

Without the debate and analysis, there is no reason to be presenting these cases and therefore, you end up re-hashing people’s worst moments for entertainment - and entertainment only. This is compounded by Amber’s tone, which is faaaaar too ticktock-y, like she’s desperately trying to catch our attention. She delivers these stories in exaggerated voices a... more

  • Original was a must listen but kind of bored by the reboot.

I’m embarrassed to realize I never rated the pod when I was binging the entire back catalogue before. I was so bummed when it was over. Then so happy about the comeback, but it’s kind of boring. I split the difference between 5 stars and 1 star for my review. I’ll try a few more but so far the stories are not very compelling. This is nothing against Amber as I think she would be fine in another context, but the dialogue between her and Dr. Shaw is kind of flat. I enjoy the tension between the s... more
