I just want to encourage you guys for your work, your relevant podcasts and email prompts. I’ve subscribed to both and I can sense the Holy Spirit nudging me through what you’re sharing. It was through an email prompt that highlighted something we needed to address in our marriage. Talking about this with my husband set off a chain reaction that has seen us do a tonne of work using your resources and others, to draw closer to each other and God like never before. Our family is benefiting and so ... more

  • Different (in a good way)

I love listening to this podcast because it’s different and doesn’t cover what everyone else is doing. The episodes really go in depth in covering all parts of marriage including the emotional and difficult parts. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn something new about themselves and their marriage.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Worth Repeating: The Mindful Marriage with Ron Deal Ep. 737
Q: What should someone do first if they want to start applying these principles?
Start somewhere accessible, like reading the Mindful Marriage book, taking a 15-minute online assessment, and then seeking a mentor or restoration therapist. The key is to take the first step and not wait for perfect certainty about the path ahead.
Worth Repeating: The Mindful Marriage with Ron Deal Ep. 737
Q: What was it like to work on this book with your wife and co-authors?
It was a collective journey where multiple therapists and educators contributed, making the material deeply grounded in both clinical practice and personal experience. Nan brought a learner's perspective, while the Hargraves provided the foundational framework that makes the concepts accessible to regular couples.
Worth Repeating: The Mindful Marriage with Ron Deal Ep. 737
Q: Can you give us an overview of Restoration Therapy?
Restoration Therapy is about integrating theology, attachment theory, neuroscience, and mindfulness into a practical, real-time method for changing how individuals respond under stress. It helps couples map their pain cycles and replace reactive patterns with a structured four-step process that moves them toward grace and growth.
The Love Language That Matters Most with Dr. Gary Chapman Ep. 733
Q: What practical steps can couples take to personalize expressions of love beyond generic routines?
Understand the dialects and plan accordingly—for example, schedule quality time rather than assuming spontaneity works for all; learn the other person's calendar preferences, and use open-ended conversations to tailor acts of service, gifts, or touch to what truly resonates with them.
The Love Language That Matters Most with Dr. Gary Chapman Ep. 733
Q: How should couples approach the new book and its assessments in relation to reading the book versus taking the quiz?
A balanced approach is best: read the book and take the Love Language Assessment as you go; starting with reading helps, and taking the quiz adds personalization by identifying primary language and personality, though not everyone will choose to take the quiz.
