  • This is precisely the Australian wildlife podcast I was looking for.

I’m a resident of the southern United States who loves to learn about Australian wildlife. This podcast is excellent because the hosts are widely acquainted with projects and animals all across Down Under and invite lots of expert guests to speak. The episodes are just as interesting and informative as my favorite Australia books.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Brandi Blue & Kyndal Meadows | Wine Country Zoological
Q: What makes Wine Country Zoo unique in its approach to education and conservation?
They focus on private encounters and enrichment rather than large public displays, emphasize ethical sourcing and rescue, and use tours to fund end-of-life care and educational programs.
Brendan Sheean | Wildlife Reimagined
Q: What kind of small mammals would you be interested in working with?
Brendan expressed interest in reintroducing native rodents and highlighted the importance of these species, such as the water rat.
Becca Bolton & Kim Green | Discover Deadly
Q: Have you guys ever been bitten by a venomous species at all?
Yes, I have. I was complacent and got bitten while cleaning, but it was only my first bite in 15 years of handling snakes, so the safety measures are effective.
Becca Bolton & Kim Green | Discover Deadly
Q: Steve, you mentioned before that you had a phobia of snakes and now you obviously do what you do here. How did that come about?
It was through Becca's education and presentations that helped me get over my fear. I became passionate about changing people's perceptions of snakes and educating them instead.
Rob Hemsworth | President of Project Numbat
Q: What do you do in your other spare time?
Rob works as a senior zoologist for a consulting company, focusing on fieldwork and wildlife surveys in Western Australia.
