Astonishing Legends

Scott Philbrook & Forrest Burgess
Society & CultureHistory

The world is more mysterious than most people are comfortable imagining. We cross paths with the mystical from time to time and may not even notice it. If we do, we quickly return to our usually mundane daily existence. But what if we not only acknowledged the unknown, we investigated it and spoke with those in the know? That’s what co-hosts Scott & Forrest, and their producer Tess Pfeifle do at Astonishing Legends. Over 85 million downloads and hundreds of thousands of listeners have shown that exploring and embracing the wonders of our world can be not only enlightening but exciting. Welcome to Astonishing Legends!

  • Absolutely interminable. The subject matter is always of interest to me and I love Rob Kristoffersen and Rich Hatem, so I have to listen to the episodes on which they appear as guests, but it's such a painful, tedious listen. Both hosts have editing experience, apparently, but if ever a show was crying out for an editor, it's this one. Forrest has a good 'radio voice' but he rambles on and on unchecked and I have to reduce the playback speed to make Scott's high-pitched squealing less painful. T... more

  • Everything is Connected

This show is top-notch. Well-produced and researched. Listening as these two gentlemen have both honed their skills, and developed their views over time has been a pleasure. Thank you for the episode on The Vertical Plane, since my first listen, I had been searching for a copy, and just yesterday I realized that the episode webpage had a link to an affordable, second edition copy, which I quickly purchased. Keep up the great work! Everything is connected! more

  • Amazing

It has gotten worse over time. Unstructured, chaotic (so many random tangents & the ads, man the ads…) It used to be an amazing podcast, but not any more. Both hosts did such a great job researching, divulging on differing perspectives, and talking through their thought process and beliefs in a structured way. Having meaningful dialogue. Now it’s becoming more and more the lunch talk of two Middle Aged men. I do hope they get back to more structured episodes. Maybe they just ran out of ideas.
