Pls do not take melatonin everyday! And there’s more ads then they talk, every 3 min there’s a 3 min ad, it’s just a misinformational money hungry podcast. Very disappointing.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 383 - The Rogue Pharmacist: Skin Purging
Q: There's talk about detox and purging—how should clients interpret these experiences, and when should they seek help?
Detox is not the right framework; treat it as purging versus irritation or immune reaction. If it's follicular with pus, it's likely purging; if it's red, painful, and widespread, it's more likely an immune reaction or irritation and may require halting the product and evaluating systemic factors such as gut health.
Ep 383 - The Rogue Pharmacist: Skin Purging
Q: How can estheticians help clients manage or shorten purging without ditching effective ingredients?
You can slow purge by using lower doses, reducing frequency, and giving longer breaks between applications; mixing retinol with clays can slow penetration; addressing gut health and systemic nutrition can reduce susceptibility to purging and improve overall skin resilience.
Ep 383 - The Rogue Pharmacist: Skin Purging
Q: Ben, I hear a lot from clients and online that their skin is purging whenever they start a new product. What exactly is happening at the cellular level?
Purging happens when ingredients pull things up by accelerating cell turnover and there are microcomodones inside the follicle; the keratinocytes move upward toward the pore, bringing the contents up and forming comedones and possibly pustules. It is most likely with retinoids and certain acids, and only occurs if microcomodones are already present.
Ep 379 – Generation Gaps: Same License, Different Starting Lines with Kiarra Smith
Q: How do you balance online presence with treatment-room work in building your business?
Kiarra explains that online presence is important for branding and education, but her core focus remains excellent hands-on work and real-time client interactions; she views social content as a digital diary and portfolio rather than the sole driver of business.
Ep 379 – Generation Gaps: Same License, Different Starting Lines with Kiarra Smith
Q: When did you go to school and how did post-COVID education impact your training?
Kiarra shares that she trained in 2021-2022, with a strong emphasis on hygiene and safety after the pandemic, which shaped her expectations for hands-on practice and clinic experiences.
