  • The No Kings March

I went to a local march because I can’t stand the hateful tone of Trump/Vance, the scapegoating of the tiny minority of transgender people in our world, the dismantling of the dept of education which monitors special education, the blowing up of Venezuelan boats . . .

Sorry, Joe, but it was not a waste of time.

And I guarantee you almost everyone there represented 5-10 people who ... more

Can't Say It Without a Tat
Q: Can you summarize why America is exceptional in light of the founding principles?
America is exceptional because it pledges to realize liberty and equality, and because the founders framed government around protecting those universal principles rather than enabling tyranny. The conversation stresses that the ongoing task is to live up to those ideals and to reform society when injustices are recognized, rather than abandoning them.
He Doesn't Weasel Out of It!
Q: How are Americans interpreting the rise of democratic socialism and its impact on traditional party alignment?
They see it as a response to perceived establishment failures and a desire for economic mobility, with educated white voters driving much of the support for progressive candidates, while acknowledging that viewpoints vary and political responses are complex.
The Ballad of Burger Jim
Q: Tom McClintock, how are you, sir?
I'm doing fine, thanks.
Hope & Junkies
Q: Lanhee, any thoughts on the Republican brand at this point?
Lanhee Chen discusses the enduring and nuanced influence of the President's brand within Republican circles, noting shifting voter bases and how branding interacts with policy positions, while acknowledging that the overall party alignment is complex and evolving.
Practical Things
Q: What do economists predict about AI's impact on jobs in the next five to ten years?
There is no consensus; some say job losses, some predict gains, and most see a mix of outcomes with productivity rising but displacements occurring in various sectors.
