An excellent analysis of the play. The theme of mercantilism is central to the interpretation of characters’ motives and behaviour. She highlights the recurring language of commerce perfectly. The final speech about mercy is drowned out by the cries for financial compensation and penalty.
Outstanding lectures on Shakespeare’s plays - I only wish that Professor Smith had included lectures on all of the plays.
Hurray! More lectures to bring Shakespeare’s plays to life. I have learned so much from this entertaining series. Emma really is a Shakespeare Rock Star!
Excellent work really enjoyed
