  • Inspiring storytelling

Abigail and her guests lead the listener to dream and be inspired by their stories of beautiful places in Aotearoa. They showcase that you can have a small or an epic adventure, and both are just as life-giving - being outdoors and in nature. Thanks for doing this podcast Abigail, every episode I find myself surprised to be interested and inspired by every topic, even the ones I’d never dreamed of doing myself, maybe I could!

  • Not worth my time

Tried to listen to show about Mt. Cook hiking. Abigail needs a better mike- too “breathy” and she says “like” too often. But more importantly - I wanted info actual usable information about the trails and hiking them—— but it consisted mostly of “if you have a chance to go- it’s amazing”. Not worth my time and unpleasant to listen to.

Ciska suggests exploring Aotearoa first for cultural insights with activities like a Maori welcome, followed by visits to thermal areas, Tauranga's Mount Maunganui, and the hidden gems of Coromandel.
160: Hut Etiquette in DOC Huts and Exploring the Whitcombe Valley with Renee Cadigan
Q: How do you make a complaint to DOC? Did you first do that?
Well, because I have a few DOC members that actually follow me, they messaged me and asked what day it was and did I get a name.
160: Hut Etiquette in DOC Huts and Exploring the Whitcombe Valley with Renee Cadigan
Q: How do you best address it when the hut etiquette is really bad?
I guess in that situation, we didn't address it at all. We just hightailed it out there. But there have been circumstances where I have had to ask people to be mindful of the others that are sleeping.
157: Setting the Fastest Self-Supported Record on Te Araroa with Billy Meredith
Q: What advice would you give to those planning to hike Te Araroa?
Pack good rain gear due to unpredictable weather, and expect that the trail might take longer than anticipated, so have extra food.
