  • Inspiring storytelling

Abigail and her guests lead the listener to dream and be inspired by their stories of beautiful places in Aotearoa. They showcase that you can have a small or an epic adventure, and both are just as life-giving - being outdoors and in nature. Thanks for doing this podcast Abigail, every episode I find myself surprised to be interested and inspired by every topic, even the ones I’d never dreamed of doing myself, maybe I could!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

179: Vanlife and Revisiting Favourite New Zealand Hidden Gems with Daniel Mauden
Q: Do you have a cut-off date for van life or any long-term plans?
There isn't a strict cut-off; van life remains a core part of their lifestyle, with plans to travel internationally in the coming year and possibly long-term partnerships with travel companies.
179: Vanlife and Revisiting Favourite New Zealand Hidden Gems with Daniel Mauden
Q: Your favourite morning since you began van life?
Waking up at French Pass to a blue hour sunrise over the Marlborough Sounds, followed by a peaceful, solitary moment at the ridge with a spectacular view of the lighthouse and ocean.
180: Hiking the Cascade Saddle Route, Tramping Clubs and Influencers with Alice Milne
Q: What motivates you to get outdoors and what's the best part of hiking in Southland?
Motivation comes from a mix of personal growth, mental and physical health benefits, and a deep appreciation for New Zealand's beauty; the best part is experiencing and sharing those places with friends and family.
177: First-Time Packraft Adventures and Hiking to Lake Crucible with Charlotte
Q: When you and your partner purchased pack rafts, what experience did you have prior or was it just a let's go moment?
We were already confident outdoorspeople with kayaking and rafting experience, so we eased into pack rafting rather than diving straight in, starting with grade-1 and grade-2 rivers and gradually taking on more challenging routes as our skills and confidence grew.
176: A Local's Guide to Northland and Building Hiking Communities with Hannah Whittaker
Q: How has living in New Zealand shaped your approach to adventure compared with traveling overseas?
Living in New Zealand has made me value having my own space and routine, which shapes an outdoors-first approach when traveling abroad; it also highlights that nature can be a primary driver of experiences overseas, but you may need to chase it more deliberately.
