I also used to always have five songs in each episode (hence the "five" portion of the title), but nowadays it is sometimes... more

Have been listening since not long after this podcast came out. I am always interested to hear what songs and music people love, and this is a cool quick way to get walked through this host’s musical taste. I’m sure my personal song choices will differ, but he is covering a lot of genres and even showing me songs I don’t know or have forgotten about.
I love how carefully chosen these songs are and especially as it’s unbiased towards one genre. May not be my favorite 500 songs but it illuminates me to bands and songs I need to listen to. If you love music - you’ll love the podcast!

A music-focused show built around personal curation, deep dives into artists and eras, and playful ranking of songs. Episodes regularly blend memory, critical context, and sample audio to illuminate why certain tracks endure, with host-driven explorations of artists ranging from classic rock to modern pop. A recurring strength is the intimate, conversational vibe—often paired with rankings, mini-countdowns, and anecdotal reflections that make music history feel approachable and personal. A notable trait is the host's willingness to bridge nostalgia with fresh picks, and to invite audience participation via votes or polls, creating a communal listening experience.
