Disappearing is something “all boys do at the age of 16.” That’s what police told Valerie Nettles when she discovered her 16-year-old son, Damien, hadn’t come home the night before. The teenager had been at a party with friends on November 2, 1996, b... more

And Then They Were Gone is among my Top 10 Favorite Podcasts, my Top Three Favorite Podcasts in the True Crime genre, and my Number One Favorite Podcast by a Pair of Significant Others. Kona’s impressively researched scripts serve the podcast’s premise—she has learned the whole case inside and out and Ethan is hearing about it for the first time. While the show is scripted, the couple’s conversations develop and flow organically with a mutual enthusiasm/engagement and warmth between the hosts. K... more
I have just started listening. 5 eps in and really enjoying the format and how Kona and Ethan banter off each other. Great research and varied subjects from relatively unknown to more well known. I like that they are really passionate about helping the missing!

You have no evidence to point to homicide other than to say ‘we don’t know certain things so therefore we can’t take anything off the table’ is not how investors would approach scenarios of this nature. On the balance sheets f probabilities he suicided and your suggestions of police ineptitude are extremely harmful to unders... more
Well researched and told in a thrilling, dynamic way. Big plus is the police perspective that Ethan brings to the conversation. My favorite part is when the two hosts get into theories even if they disagree.
Great job on the Steven Koecher episode! I hadn’t heard about the landlord. It makes so much sense! Thank you!
