Starting from the beginning of the podcast I have been listening as I reread Lord of the Rings for the first time in 15 or so years and these guys bring IT everytime! I love the energy, the lore, the discussions that bring in the movies and the other texts, and especially the continuous inside jokes that we are privy to when listening pod after pod (don’t forget the sniffing!) I very much reccommend this and I have talked many times about this pod already with friends.
Ez and Lane offer an entertaining and leisurely reread as your new fun friends. They’re casual yet seriously committed fans who enjoy Tolkien’s work, his fans, and personally connecting with the text. more
First of all - the two hosts are clearly lovely guys and good friends. I’ve enjoyed listening to them re-reading the chapters in these amazing books, especially as im reading LOTR again myself. more
Lane and Ez exude positivity, making this the most awesome place for any Tolkien fan to be. I just started the re-read with them from the very beginning of their episodes, but I listened to their Rings of Power episodes and Hobbit Hotline, and enjoyed it thoroughly. Can’t emphasize enough how welcoming and enjoyable they are. They have no clue who I am, but I’m super grateful I found their podcast and this community of positive fans who want to talk about Tolkien’s greatness! Thanks so much, guy... more
I tried to listen to the silmarillon podcast, but 30 mins in they hadn’t even delved into the book yet, and then it was just the one guy speaking about the first part in such a long winded way, and the other guy trying to chime in. It was tough to listen to, and I had to stop it shortly thereafter. It’s a shame because clearly they have interesting commentary, but they can’t get out of their own way. more
