This show is amazing and I’m so sad I’m only just now discovering it
I started listening for the Australia seasons, since I much prefer the Pod Ledom podcast for the American version. But now I just fast forward through these to get the scoop on what the contestants have been doing since their seasons. I can’t take the juvenile loudness, cackling, and singing for an entire episode.
Amanda and Hillary are so witty, the Next Top Best Friends we all need.
Their takes on ANTM (and adjacent shows, AusNTM, Tyra Show specials) always entertain and educate.
I hope they bring back ANTM (or the show covers Africa’s/Asia’s Next Top Model) just so we can continue to be graced with this delightful podcast.
The girls are great commentators, but they come off as young. While they are very intelligent and appreciate their takes on political, sometimes they can be insensitive. However, their job is to be witty and they are good at that so I’ll keep listening. 3.5 stars
ANTBF is so much fun and I can’t recommend it enough to anyone who’s a fan of Top Model. I will say that if you’re a first time watcher of the show you should really only listen to the episode recaps after you’ve finished the cycle they’re covering if you don’t want to be spoiled as to what happens.
Hilary and Amanda are both hilarious and I can tell how much both of them love ANTM. They both give great commentary and manage to address real, serious issues while still keeping it very lighthear... more
I have been a fan of the pod for a bit now and I absolutely LOVE it! This is my third time listening through all the cycles and I still laugh at some of the stuff they say. Amanda a Hillary have such great chemistry and it’s great to hear them play off each other. 10/10 would recommend
While I really did enjoy and agree with a lot of the hosts’ commentary on one of my favorite guilty pleasure shows, I couldn’t deal with all the screeching and giggling. It was completely distracting and annoying. Also, these girls are pretty self absorbed and lost in their own world. I’ve found another delicious podcast on ANTM that has no screeching and I’m much happier.
Did I discover this podcast less than a week ago? Yes. Have I already listened to over half a dozen seasons of it? Also, yes. I have chronic migraines that leave me hanging out in the dark a lot and this podcast has been my savior. Truly my light in the darkness, keeping me entertained through the pain. Love how knowledgeable the hosts are about the industry and how hysterical their cutting takes are!
Can’t even get thorough ten minutes of these girls screeching and giggling and acting like tweens. I started by listening to the cycle 15 recap since I just watched that cycle. “Omg Esther is the first Jewish contestant!” They breathily exclaim. “She’s very Jewish!” Girls, Esther is the first Orthodox Jew. The only other girl to mention her Judaism was Jeal. I’m sure there were other contestants, but they don’t ask everyone’s religious backgrounds, so...
OMG, listen to adults podcast.
Love these ladies and this podcast. Their commentary is spot on and I look forward to listening every week. A lot of these reviewers are just bullies who need someone to pick on. Keep up the great work ladies.
But Amanda is insufferable. The purposely loud cackling hurts my ears and there’s absolutely no reason for her to shriek like that. The content is good and I appreciate their respect for POC and LGBTQ+ but Amanda needs to seriously tone down the cackling, painful valley girl intonation, and constant derailment. I don’t see Hillary giving Amanda the boot since they’re longtime friends so PLEASE guys, just work on the issues with Amanda. This has the potential to be a great podcast.
Amanda often describes people or their personalities/actions as “Jewish” at random times, with no explanation but usually clearly alluding to some pretty nasty stereotypes. It seems that Hillary is Jewish, so I don’t know why she never addresses it or doesn’t seem to think it’s a problem, but it’s not cool and it’s not cute. Especially odd since they’re otherwise pretty careful about how they talk about people who are from other minorities. Might sound like a small thing, but it really mars what... more
As a long time fan of Top Model, I've always looked forward to each episode of ANTBF! Hillary & Amanda never fail to entertain and it's so much fun when they get to interview former contestants. Really glad they both have now launched into recapping Australia's Next Top Model. It's also been great that they're now doing each episode on it's own because it's nice to really dive into what happened each week instead of rushing through the series.
These girls are obviously very passionate and excited about Top Model and very well educated on the industry. That perspective gives a lot of really great insight into the bigger picture of the industry, and the love and nostalgia they have for the show is terrific.
I do agree that when they start getting off topic it gets more difficult to connect with them. I’ve found myself fast forwarding the first few minutes of each episode so I can just a get to the Top Model discussion. I also didn’t a... more
I love this podcast when they riff about the actual show and contestants, but when they derail it’s almost unbearable. It’s like being in a friend group where everyone else has known each other longer and they constantly remind you you’re the outlier. And we get it, you’re woke.
