For five years, Catherine Brobeck and Kemper Donovan revisited these novels in publication order, ranking them according to pre-set criteria (plot, character, etc.)... more

  • Such a treat!

Lovely in depth reviews, interesting background information and pleasant banter between the hosts. My favourite podcast with shorter and longer stories so it always fits perfectly when I am travelling. Thanks for the efforts, Catherine and Kemper! Much appreciated, greetings from the Netherlands.

  • Great breakdown of the Sittaford Mystery…

Very intelligent analysis…J saw a bit of the cheesy movie. I couldn’t watch it. However, there is an early 1990s BBC radio play of this (5 parts) that is excellent. Great voice acting and the overall ambience is very convincing. It is my insomnia listen! You will love it!

  • great podcast but a bit grating

love the podcast mission but the audio quality is not great. the female host’s interruptions and much slower speaking style and sharper and louder audio come off as grating and interrupt the flow

Interview with Amy Littlefield, Author of Killers of Roe: My Investigation into the Mysterious Death of Abortion Rights
Q: Do you think Agatha Christie and Miss Marple would influence your perspective on abortion politics today?
Amy suggests that while Christie and Miss Marple inspire a listening, three-dimensional approach, she would not fully align with Christie's politics but appreciates the empathy and nuanced portrayal of human motives that can inform dialogue across political divides.
Interview with Amy Littlefield, Author of Killers of Roe: My Investigation into the Mysterious Death of Abortion Rights
Q: What motivated you to frame your book as a Murder Mystery investigation into abortion rights?
She explains that the framing began as a way to engage readers with a difficult topic, using Christine tropes to invite empathy and to examine how policies cause real deaths, while balancing competing narratives and exploring the humanity of all involved.
Interview with Amy Littlefield, Author of Killers of Roe: My Investigation into the Mysterious Death of Abortion Rights
Q: When and how did you first discover Agatha Christie, and what did she come to mean to you?
Amy describes discovering Death on the Nile in middle school and being captivated by the mystery and the artistry of Christie's openings and characters, which provided comfort and escape during adolescence and later moments of motherhood and upheaval.
Relax Your Arm: The Nurses of Agatha Christie (with Guest Co-Host Claire Wells)
Q: Why do nurses appear so frequently in Agatha Christie's works?
Nurses are ubiquitous witnesses and observers in Christie's worlds, able to be both inside and outside the main action, moving through houses and wards with access to patients and secrets, which makes them ideal for complicating plots and serving as alibis or clues.
Interview with Author Margot Douaihy
Q: How did you come to write the Sister Holiday series and why set it in New Orleans?
Margot explains she wanted a hard-boiled vibe with a strong sense of place, using a punk nun as a unique sleuth and merging noir with puzzle-driven mystery, and she emphasizes how New Orleans' energy, spirituality, and contradictions shape the stories.
