  • Entertaining and insightful

Thanks for this wonderful episode, a very interesting topic that is omnipresent in detective fiction of the golden age I think. It is very strange to us now, but always interesting to think about where historically this division of power came from.

Absolutely wonderful podcast. Caroline's depth of knowledge and enthusiasm are extraordinary and she has a lovely style, sharing her own analysis but keeping the works and the authors firmly at the centre. I have enjoyed learning more about my favourite Golden Age authors, gaining a new appreciation for ones i thought i didn't like, and being exposed to new and lesser-known writers. Some wonderful interview episodes too as well as some great and entertaining themed epsiodes. The Green Penguin pr... more

  • A magical find

I eventually capitulate and listened to an episode, after much advertising alongside crime stories found on BBC sounds. I love this gentle but surprisingly questioning podcast. I am now listening back from the beginning and it is a joy. The research and information makes me think as I recover from exhaustion and challenges me to go looking for new books, thank you
