  • WHOLESOME

Thought provoking topics that are delivered beautifully.

I can’t get over this podcast. I was a little too old for Blues Clues when it came out, so speaking as someone who didn’t “grow up” with him: it’s never too late to start learning from Steve.

    Highly recommended.

  • Growing up next to Steve

30 years ago, I was a 20 year old nanny watching Blues Clues every day. I had a love/hate relationship watching the same episodes over and over season 1. Steve was an adorable idiot 🥰 But my budding special education teacher and future speech language pathologist was learning about wait time and trying a failing before succeeding. 30 years later, I still recommend Blues Clues because it’s such a nice slow-paced, comforting show. And now I recommend Alice with Steve Burns for the same reason… ed... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Listen Again: Why Money Stresses Us Out with Megan McCoy
Q: What can someone do first to start improving their relationship with money?
Start with basic literacy: track spending, separate accounts for different goals, and gradually build a plan that includes saving and mindful spending rather than avoidance.
Behind the Blue Curtain: A Peek Into the Making of Blue’s Clues and Its legacy
Q: What was the real breakthrough moment that signaled the show's potential?
Seeing the pilot's reception by parents and the demand to keep the VHS when it aired, plus the eventual engagement with audiences who connected deeply with the camera-facing approach, signaled that the show could endure well beyond its original airings.
Behind the Blue Curtain: A Peek Into the Making of Blue’s Clues and Its legacy
Q: How did Blue's Clues come to be, and what were the early moments of finding the right formula?
The show evolved from a collaboration at Nickelodeon driven by a need for a signature Nick Jr. program, combining a research-backed approach with playful, game-like interactivity to engage preschoolers. The early room-and-pilot process involved testing pacing with split screens and listening to children, which gradually revealed a formula that felt both educational and entertaining.
End-of-Life Planning: What No One Tells You Until It’s Too Late with Alua Arthur
Q: Why is it important for younger people to start thinking about practical affairs and end-of-life planning?
Because life is unpredictable and early preparation clarifies values, reduces later stress for loved ones, and helps people live more fully today by acknowledging mortality as a guide for meaningful choices.
End-of-Life Planning: What No One Tells You Until It’s Too Late with Alua Arthur
Q: How has working so closely with death informed how you live your life?
It transformed daily living into a practice of presence and honesty, making me more grateful, expressive, and focused on meaning; it also reinforced the value of compassion and practical planning as acts of love.
