The top three reasons why couples fight
Q: How can you repair after a fight?
Acknowledge accountability for your part, avoid justifications, commit to changing behavior in the future, and ensure the other person accepts the apology for true repair to begin.
The top three reasons why couples fight
Q: What should you do to ensure a productive argument?
Pick the right moment, frame statements around your own feelings (I feel...), avoid blaming, and use a structured approach like the XYZ model to stay focused on solving the problem rather than attacking the person.
The top three reasons why couples fight
Q: Is fighting and arguing normal?
Yes, it's very normal and can be essential for couples to air grievances and feel safe to express needs, as long as it doesn't become a shouting match that erodes understanding.

Q: So tell me about studying and specialising in psychiatry. Why did you choose that?
I was drawn by an interest in people and how the mind functions, and I was inspired by Anthony Clare, a respected Irish broadcaster, which helped shape my path into psychiatry. The field combines medicine with an understanding of behavior and distress, and I pursued further specialization to treat mental illness comprehensively.
What your doctor isn’t telling you about food
Q: Alan, how are you?
I'm well, and excited to be back on the show to discuss these important topics.
