  • RIP to Air Jordan

RIP to a solid podcast that was doing an “ok” job of surveying restaurants in LA while simultaneous engaging mostly with a community of personal friends and personal relationships within the industry. Now they want to charge people for a video podcast where they can’t even get high quality cameras or sit in front each other for a higher quality video product. I wish them well in their further pursuit of reviewing trendy openings where most people can’t get in and leaving unexplored smaller busin... more

  • My go to for LA

The day when Jordan ceases to say “and remember, the episode is coming soon” will be a very sad day. What a duo. Team Max for telling it like it is, and team Jordan for bringing life to the pod.

  • Annie & Hallie not fun

I’ve never turned your podcast off but after listening to Annie & Hallie’s opinions on what’s tasteful I tuned out. No dogs, no apps, no baked cheeses, no fun. Not sure why their held in high esteem, because of their parents???

  • Uppity Okun

General episodes are good and funny but if there’s an interview, be careful. It’s usually with uppity people without any exposure to culture beyond the yts. Interview episodes with non chefs such as restaurant group execs, for as long as I can remember, are boring and full of talking down to certain groups of people. Interviews with chefs don’t have any humor. It’s straight business talk.

The Q&A: Favorite Sandwiches, The Best Time in LA Dining, and Noma Blowback
Q: What was the best year for LA dining?
Michael Lasker references that 1999 is considered a great year for films, which they relate to LA dining, but lays out a case for both 2007 and 1994 as contenders.
The Q&A: Favorite Sandwiches, The Best Time in LA Dining, and Noma Blowback
Q: What's the best cut to judge the quality of an omakase?
You should consider the skill of the chef and specific fish types like kohada; it's about how they're treated rather than just the fish itself.
The Final Air Jordan, New Pod is Coming & Substack is Here
Q: What is the new pod exactly? Why the rebrand?
We are going to be stepping outside of Los Angeles to bring a broader coverage of dining and food and how it intersects with our lives and pop culture.
The L.A. Holiday Nog-Off
Q: Do you take those [lacto pills] first or...?
Yes, Max Reis has supplied us with lacto pills.
The L.A. Holiday Nog-Off
Q: What do you look for in a nog?
I want it creamy and smooth, but not too creamy. I do tend to lean as loving a sweeter nog. I am a fan of nutmeg.
