  • I look forward to it each day!

This show is great! I find the outlook on national policy and politics from a rural perspective to be very informative and valuable. The guests are terrific. Getting the insight of policymakers and industry leaders on such such important, and current, issues each day is something I look forward to.

  • Not a fan of Davis

Davis should host no shows. He’s a hype man. He has poor questions for guest on the program. After the market report I turn it off. When Chip is hosting there’s good information. The show spends a to much time tongue wagging for politicians, instead of asking uncomfortable questions.

I realize Steffes group invested a lot with you guys but I can’t listen to machinery Pete it’s a terrible segment.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

AgriTalk-April 3, 2026 PM
Q: What are you learning so far this spring, especially about costs of production given high fertilizer prices?
Chris Barron explains that costs are up roughly $34-$35 per acre for corn due to fertilizer and other inputs, but price increases in corn have compensated for much of that, improving margins. Soybeans show a different dynamic with overhead costs contributing to a roughly 7.5% uplift in general returns as part of inflation effects.
AgriTalk-April 6, 2026 PM
Q: With WASDE coming up, what are you watching most closely in the balance sheet for corn and old-crop demand?
Ted explains that changes will hinge on beginning stocks and demand adjustments, with a focus on whether the market needs to rebalance exports and the old-crop balance sheet before the May WASDE, while noting that any revisions should be timely to influence acres and marketing decisions.
AgriTalk-March 25, 2026 PM
Q: What is the near-term impact of the E15 waiver on prices?
It provides a modest, short-term lift to bean oil and corn, but the long-term impact is limited by overall carryouts and demand, making it a temporary support rather than a lasting trend.
AgriTalk-December 12, 2025 PM
Q: What is the current outlook for China's purchases and its impact on U.S. soybeans?
Suderman explains that Chinese buying has continued and could accompany a broader push to improve relations, but the long-term impact depends on the trade agreement details and delivery of commitments, with potential leverage changes if legal or policy hurdles arise.
AgriTalk-March 16, 2026 PM
Q: What strategies did Allison recommend for producers given the current volatility?
Lock in some basis bids for new crop, consider pricing strategically rather than waiting for premium, and use hedges to protect against downside while waiting for clearer market signals.
