Welcome to How to Move Abroad (because Google is not a plan) — the podcast for Americans who are done “considering it” and ready to actually make the move happen. I’m Mistelle. I’ve moved abroad three times, I don’t have a magic second passport, and I’m not here to sell you a fantasy life on a cobblestone street. We’re talking the stuff that actually decides whether you can move: visas, budgets, t... more

Very informative and well said. As a military spouse there were lots of decisions about what to keep in and what to throw away when we were transferred to Germany. Good job daughter dear! As your mom it’s so great to see you share your joy of overseas living!
After listening to Mistelle, I’m already thinking about the items in my house and how very little I will actually bring with me. I haven’t got a current plan to move abroad but it is a goal and I’ll be thinking about this episode whenever I bring new items into my current home.

A practical, no-nonsense show focused on turning the idea of living abroad into a concrete, doable plan. Host Mistelle guides listeners through visas, budgets, timelines, and healthcare, plus the realities of doing this with a partner or family. Episodes emphasize actionable frameworks over dreamy fantasies, with strategies for evaluating visa routes, budgeting sensibly, and coordinating logistics like documents, appointments, and school choices. The format typically prioritizes real-world steps, data-driven planning, and blunt coaching to help listeners stop planning in theory and start moving toward an actual move. A standout trait is the host's emphasis on project-management tactics and a calm, results-oriented mindset that makes relocat... more
