  • A Must for Law School Applicants

Law school admissions is stressful, complicated, and often times a bit of a mystery. All of this helps fuel speculation online that, while exciting, must be taken with a grain of salt because it is fellow applicants giving their views. Those giving advice often times aren’t a part of the actual admissions process.

This series has truly provided a great view at not only how to better navigate admissions, but how applications may be read (of course, it varies school to school!)

Dean Z’s insight was invaluable as I submitted my law school applications for the 2020-2021 admissions cycle. Her review of specific applications was especially helpful. I highly recommend this content to prospective law school applicants.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A2Z 106: Letters of Rec
Q: If you're a K-JD applicant, do you really need two letters from professors? Is that a strict requirement?
The advisor notes that two academics plus one professional (or two professionals plus one academic) is a strong, flexible framework. The exact balance depends on proximity to undergrad and the ability to secure meaningful academic input, but strong, relevant letters trump rigid quotas.
A2Z 105: Holistic Admissions + Addenda
Q: Nicole asks about resumes with multiple short-term leadership roles and last-minute applications.
Frame such experiences by explaining why the short timeframes occurred, emphasize progression where genuine, or provide a concise addendum that clarifies the pattern without over-explaining, focusing on how these roles demonstrate responsibility and adherence to norms.
A2Z 105: Holistic Admissions + Addenda
Q: Susie asks what it means to be holistic and how LSAT and GPA fit into that.
Holistic admissions means considering LSAT and GPA in the context of everything known about the person, assessing whether they can do the work and if they would be a good fit, rather than treating metrics as guarantees of admission.
A2Z 103: Season Finale Q&A
Q: Should I apply if I take the January 2026 LSAT?
It depends on your target schools; many accept applications late, but taking the January LSAT might limit some options.
A2Z 103: Season Finale Q&A
Q: Should you address why you transferred undergraduate institutions, especially if you're applying to the school you transferred from?
Yes, especially if applying to your previous school, to clarify why you transferred and address any concerns.
