  • Why change it?!?!

I absolutely loved this podcast. However, I can't stand it now. I HATE the new hosts. I feel like I'm listening to a high schoolers podcast. Absolutely awful. I tried giving it a chance, but it's worse and worse every episode.... you guys lost me. If you bring back Andrew I'll be back.

  • Occasionally informative

I started listening to this when I began DH school I thought it would be useful to keep up with DH products and the profession. I started to realize the host Andrew is constantly putting his personal opinion and not really shining a positive impact on the DH profession, prefer to listen to episodes when it’s other hosts

  • Don’t waste your time

This podcast is horrible. 3 hygienists talking over each other and can’t even pronounce words correctly. 🤦🏼‍♀️unnecessary cussing all just makes you sound unprofessional. Don’t waste your time.

  • Absolutely Love

I have been a hygienist for while and love what I do. I am new listening to this podcast and I am so glad I found it. I listen on my drives to work and kid functions. It helps to keep me updated on what’s happening in the hygiene world and it’s fun. I even send some of the podcast to my hygiene Divas txt group.

539 You're Not a Student Anymore — Advocating for Yourself as a Professional
Q: What should new graduates focus on to advocate for themselves right after school?
New grads should align their actions with core professional values, ask questions, communicate honestly with patients, and gradually build confidence to say no when necessary, all while showing up consistently with integrity.
536 Caring for the Cancer Patient
Q: How can dental professionals integrate care with oncology teams to support patients best?
Aim for a patient pathway that includes oncology-hygiene coordination, establish early dental visits before treatment when possible, monitor for dry mouth and mucosal changes, adjust techniques and tools to the patient's current condition, and maintain open communication with the oncology team about products and interventions that won't interfere with chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
536 Caring for the Cancer Patient
Q: What was your recommendation for patients to beef up the basics of their oral care during cancer treatment?
Start with the gentlest possible tools (extra-soft brushes or pediatric brushes), switch to a mechanical toothbrush if they can use it without trauma, ensure proper technique, and focus on basic daily hygiene like brushing and gentle flossing or using a soft interproximal option; and collaborate with the oncology team to align products and approaches while avoiding any medicaments that could interfere with treatment.
534 Oral Cancer Screening: Stepping Fully Into Your Role
Q: What are some of Jo-Anne Jones's favorite resources for information and education for the dental team and patients?
She highlights tools and partnerships, including loops (QOptics) and Velscope, and stresses the importance of professional relationships and ongoing education for effective screening.
533 When the Provider Becomes the Patient: An RDH's Early Detection of Thyroid Cancer
Q: How has Angeli's experience shaped clinical practice for dental hygienists?
Her story emphasizes the importance of open-minded learning, thorough extra-oral screening, and referencing medical colleagues when something feels off, which can lead to earlier detections and better outcomes.
