A fascinating documentary about all the research projects that attempted to teach human Sign Language to animals.
Good production with interesting content
This is a great show for people interested in zoology, psychology, animal behavior, but I suspect that most science enthusiasts would also appreciate it. The topic is interesting; however, I believe that what truly makes the podcast great is the way the information is presented and the performance of the host. I like the music and the fact that it’s to the point. The interview excerpts were another awesome feature, I don’t think the experience would have been the same without them.

Fascinating, informative, great reporting and storytelling, and well-paced, angering at times (humans are very selfish). Loved the host. Binged all episodes in one sitting. One of the best podcasts I’ve listened to in awhile. I hope there’ll be more seasons with different subjects or even follow-ups.
Very interesting and well done.
Neat stuff. Right level of detail and depth, thought-provoking without being too superficial.
I was really pleased to find this podcast. The pacing and research was great. The focus on not only Koko but also Nim was wonderful. Recommend!
Very interesting look at "talking";apes
This is such a good podcast, I love it!
I absolutely love this funny, cute, it’s all of the good emotions! Beautiful music and story I’m addicted to this show!!!
Heard about this podcast in “Weirdest Thing I Learned Today” and binged it. Wow. Thanks for the extensive work you did to give a glimpse into Koko, gorillas, research, etc. so heartbreaking that we always see the need to humanize instead of appreciate species for who/what they are. Very informative!
The conclusion that the series makes, that we may never understand the “language” of another species, is kind of unscientific. It seems to me that the role of science is to make clearer what previously had mystified us. A better take on this series might be that psychologists in this field are just lousy at setting up and conducting these kinds of experiments - for ethical and many other reasons.
I listen to ADR on Vice news (and follow them on IG, hi Reggie) so I heard about the show through that, but didn’t listen right away. Happy to rediscovered it because it’s fantastic, as is all the media I consume from them.
Always heard about Koko and knew the story, but this was a great deep dive and jumping off point into other interesting animal stories. Can’t wait to finish it off.
Very fascinating, interesting and informative. Provides research through interviewing main characters to understand language capabilities of Gorillaz! Very entertaining as much as watching a top rated Hollywood movie.Blends heartwarming and humorous stories about the peculiar and loving nature of Koko. Wow this series is dynamite!
Good interesting stories. Well put together and researched.
