… UNTIL You paint like a Vermeer, don’t start flinging paint like Pollock. And i’m sticking with it. LEARN YOUR CRAFT. You learn it like you learned typing ( or we should have) or baking a soufflé or driving a backhoe. It’s not everything, of course; the poet Charles Wright summed it up this way: “pure technique is the spiders web without the spider – it glitters and catchers, but doesn’t kill.“ Your technique will be invisible. If your art is good enough, if it kills. If it doesn’t, if it’s all... more

Was good until it decided to delve into culture wars that had nothing to do with taking photos, but more relating to some doco nobody cares about. With the biggest reach to make it about culture wars. The evidence for the doco being about culture wars seems as paper thing as the doco being legit.

  • Time well spent!

A great podcast featuring interesting subjects in response to the current photography world. Great regular discussions with Bill Shapiro and Fiona Hayes that are always informative and productive. However, Grant I’d love to see comprehensive show notes with relevant links to things mentioned during the show though, then the podcast would get 5 stars from me!

  • The best photography podcast out there. Period.

There is minimal gear discussion; the content is centered on what photography means to individual photographers and discussions on the industry as a whole. Here, guest photographers and commentators discuss topics historic and current, and everything in between. Excellent information on do’s and don’ts of portfolio compilation and industry secrets from those in the know. Grant’s continuing series with Bill Shapiro are especially informative to the aspiring photographer wanting to get their work ... more
