Interesting and illuminating when they are talking about their specialism (or talking to a third specialist). Unfortunately they don’t seem to have any problem in ranging more widely on subjects they aren’t expert in, at which point I might as well listen to my father in law in the pub.
So intriguing. Top notch podcast
A Long time in finance is an enjoyable podcast. My team and I appreciate the depth of discussion and the humour behind it. We are certainly linking those insights with our private equity industry.
Best wishes to you John & Neil

A quarterly mix of big-picture finance, economic history, and policy discussions anchored in UK context. Episodes commonly unpack historical events (rail privatization, private equity, rail disasters, corporate governance) and cross over into current economic policy, energy, and regulation, often with authorized guests who provide deep domain expertise. The show stands out for its measured, historically informed approach and a blend of investigative finance with accessible storytelling, sometimes peppered with humor. This combination makes it a strong pick for listeners who enjoy long-view analyses of markets, regulation, and industry dynamics, particularly those with a UK focus.
