  • Newly diagnosed adult female

As a 39 year old woman with a recent diagnosis of being Autistic, this podcast is excellent. Pick it up at any point (although I am compelled to listen from the beginning, autistic trait perhaps?!). Is also great to share with friends and family to help them get a snapshot of Autism to understand myself and our son who is undergoing diagnosis. Thank you for taking the time to produce this podcast 🥰 Anna.

  • I am so happy to have found this podcast. I have only listened to three episodes so far, and love the information and atmosphere of the podcast. My one BIG hangup is the noise effects and the beginning and end of each episode are very overwhelming. The first time I listened I literally screamed out of fright at the end because I thought a gun or something went off. PLEASE change the loud overwhelming sounds to something more sensory friendly, then I would say the podcast is perfect.😊

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Autistic entrepreneurship: a different path to work
Q: What changes are needed in traditional business development to better support autistic entrepreneurs?
Professional development for traditional business services and disability organizations to understand autistic thinking and innovation, plus creating neurodiversity-affirming programs that align with autistic strengths rather than forcing neurotypical processes.
Autistic entrepreneurship: a different path to work
Q: What would you encourage people to explore first if they want to pursue autistic social entrepreneurship?
Start with self-understanding and your immediate surroundings—identify your passions, available people, and existing knowledge; use an effectual approach that begins with your means and builds on them, rather than chasing external funding or top-down planning.
Creating inclusive recruitment practices for Autistic people
Q: What does inclusive employment look like when done right?
Inclusive employment means environments where visible and invisible barriers are removed, where communication is explicit and plain, and where accommodations are built into the system so that autistic people can thrive without having to disclose their condition. It's about systemic change that benefits everyone.
Creating inclusive recruitment practices for Autistic people
Q: So, what is it about the way we currently recruit that keeps filtering out autistic candidates?
The current process relies on traditional, high-pressure interviews, unclear expectations, and policies that aren't accessible or flexible, which disproportionately disadvantages autistic people. By understanding the actual skills needed and designing processes around those skills, employers can be more inclusive and effective.
Thriving Kids: A conversation with Minister Jenny McAllister
Q: How will Thriving Kids differ across states and how will the Commonwealth ensure consistency?
The national model provides consistent information, referral pathways, and parenting emphasis, while states tailor implementation through existing health and education infrastructure; the bulk of funding is managed by states to build local service provision, with national online resources and broad guidance.
