EJ Carrion tech CEO and Jimmy Sweeney founder of the Grand Berry Theater will host a diverse guest list of local leaders that drive Fort Worth’s future. We believe Fort Worth can be a nationally known destination for innovation, creativity, and economic opportunity. However, the climate in the city today is polarizing between an evolving community that deals with historic Cowtown roots and a wave of progressive newcomers. What we do today and in the next decade is crucial to the future of the Funk. How we respond to political friction, wealth inequality, and social injustice in our communities can make or break our national reputation. Do we become Austin, Texas, or Jacksonville, Florida? Jimmy and Ej recorded this episode in the middle of the week to bring us their opinions and perspectives on the election results. They also highlight the upcoming May 24th election and discuss the city's obsession with funding cops.
EJ and Jimmy recorded this pod on election day. They talk about the investments Fort Worth is willing and not willing to make, and the impact voting has on all of us.

I listen almost every week to stay up to date on what’s happening in Fort Worth. Fills an important void in the coverage of a big city like FW.
Contrary to what they position their feelings to portray in the description about Fort Worth, these guys have a lot of hate for the city they live and choose to do business in. They outright despise differing opinions, especially from conservatives and those darn Christians. They offer little depth or thought to their conversations and supporting arguments, leading to a leftist echo chamber. If you’re ready to listen to two grown men complain about a place they choose to live with abounding cond... more
Saw this podcast advertised in my neighborhood association on Facebook. Thought I would check it out been good so far have a lot perspectives from the east side of Fort Worth. I would just hope that was a little more inclusive, including residence and conversations from the Northside, Riverside as well as the Southside and Southwest side. But so far I’ve been impressed I will continue to listen.
Like the talk about how Fort Worth can be a more inclusive city that embraces and is a part of the future.
Big fan of the 817 podcast. EJ and Jimmy bring fresh perspectives and great guests. I’m always looking for Fort Worth specific content and these guys are outstanding. In the current environment it can be difficult to stay updated on all the various topics that matter most to our city, so I appreciate the weekly discussions. Great to see local folks trying to make an impact.
