Se cuenta con una colección de textiles de los siglos XIX y XX. En este sentido, el museo tiene algunas prendas femeninas y masculinas, dechados y encajes que reflejan la bonanza de la industria textil en Aguascalientes.
La mayor parte de los restos óseos que se encuentran en este acervo pertenecen a la época del Pleistoceno y casi en su totalidad fueron encontrados en la región de Aguascalientes y Jalisco.
En 1987, con el objetivo de abrir un museo que narrara y exhibiera la historia del estado y, con la suma de voluntades y la sociedad civil, se creó el Museo Regional de Historia.
