  • A great listen

Mr. Lowry has revived for me a piece of music that had been overplayed and gone stale. I enjoyed hearing all the different perspectives and being introduced to new performers (Simone Dinnerstein is a revelation). I enjoyed the historical anecdotes about Bach's life and appreciated the explanations of how music theory supports the work. Well done!

  • 30 Bach is great!

I love Bach, and this podcast has revealed new dimensions to both that I didn't really grasp before. I love hearing the stories behind the music.

Learning the rules of counterpoint deepened my understanding and appreciation of music generally, and learning the stories of Bach and the people who play his music today has added color and depth in really lovely ways. The interplay of happiness and sadness, consonance and dissonance, and learning to better balance those feelings.
