  • Multiple truths lead to better understanding

This idea of this podcast is brilliant and Sruli is a great host. While I don’t agree with some of the answers that are given by guests, the wide range of those who are passionately sharing their answers makes this a podcast I look forward to listening to. Now more than every Israel is on our minds and in our hearts and, for me, the podcast has given me more to think about and talk to others about.

Daniel Rowe: 'It's very easy to either idolatrize God or just misuse mystical teachings'
Q: What is Jewish mysticism?
It is a multilayered view that begins with scriptural and prophetic experiences of the Beside, moves through the traditional language of sephirot and the inner workings behind creation, and culminates in a relationship with God that is both rational and transcendent; it seeks to uncover the deeper dimensions of Torah and existence and to connect this with practical life.
David Aaron: 'I believe that the Divine is existence and infinitely more'
Q: How does prayer actually work if not to change God's mind?
Prayer is a process of self-transformation—lehit paleu—where one aligns desires with God's, so healing and blessings flow through one's own reformulation of wants and actions.
David Aaron: 'I believe that the Divine is existence and infinitely more'
Q: So what is Jewish mysticism?
Rabbi Aaron explains that Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah) is not a strange or irrational departure but a systematic grammar of life that reveals how all of reality is tied together through oneness with the Divine.
Ora Wiskind: 'The presence of God is everywhere in every molecule'
Q: Can Jewish mysticism be dangerous?
Wiskind acknowledges the potential dangers, noting that without proper understanding, mysticism may lead individuals away from a life of holiness.
Ora Wiskind: 'The presence of God is everywhere in every molecule'
Q: What is the goal of Torah study?
Wiskind states that the goal of Torah study varies for individuals at different life stages and is ultimately about enhancing the oneness of Torah, God, and the Jewish people.
