  • Good ideas and coverage…..but.

Carson is rather difficult to follow when he’s speaking. His thoughts and insights are great, but he stalls, breaks, and stutters his sentences way too much. It has a jarring effect on the listener. I like the podcast and topics otherwise.

  • Eclipse

Watching this eclipse does not make scientist. It is a very temporary item we do not become totally dark

I agree that watching this is very dangerous if not properly protected. Probably better left alone. Let the real scientist view this and write on it. It happens across the world a lot more often than 300 times in 2000 years.

Even if you are an expert hiker with all the gizmos nature can still defeat you. Knowing all the things that can happen the risk was still assumed. Risk / reward turned against this couple. Their dog being there probably makes it worse. Don’t blame the bear!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Expo 86 at 40: How Vancouver changed forever
Q: Is there appetite for a new World's Fair in Vancouver?
Opinions are divided; some believe a new Expo could revitalize the city and bring economic and global attention, while others worry about the financial burden and whether the benefits would be broadly shared.
What’s next for Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives
Q: But how would you describe the last year for conservative leader Pierre Poilievre?
Simon Tuck explains that Poilievre has faced a tougher year than anticipated: a stinging election defeat, losing his own seat, and the long, challenging road of a leadership review, with a potential path forward requiring a recalibrated strategy and time.
Will a deal between Mark Carney and Danielle Smith lead to a new oil pipeline?
Q: What are the key timelines for designating and approving a pipeline, and why do they matter?
Key dates include designating the project as in the national interest by October 1, with full approval targeted by September 1, 2027, which matter because they compress the usual multi-year review process and aim to attract a private proponent amid regulatory changes.
Will a deal between Mark Carney and Danielle Smith lead to a new oil pipeline?
Q: Stephanie, what was agreed to in the initial Memorandum of Understanding last fall, and what does it set up for the new deal?
The MoU reset the Alberta-Ottawa relationship and laid groundwork to potentially reopen environmental policy discussions, including emissions caps and tanker moratoriums, in exchange for Alberta's willingness to engage on carbon pricing and a possible West Coast pipeline.
Pierre Poilievre’s U.S. Tour and the Rogan effect: Can it move the needle?
Q: What were the standout bits of discussion for you, and how do you think they played to both a Canadian and American audience?
The standout bits were the emphasis on Canada–U.S. trade and tariffs, with Poilievre defending a tariff-free relationship while acknowledging energy cooperation; the format allowed him to present a calmer, more explanatory image to both Canadian and American listeners, which some Conservatives see as a strategic shift to broaden appeal.
