  • Means Well, Does Badly

This is a great concept but I only listened to 2 stories and I’m out. I don’t know I that could adjust to the rapid, raspy narration by an old man with a lisp but the biggest problem is spoilers.

The first story I chose is a gradual revealing of the MC’s character. Before it began, the host described this in detail. In the second story, the entire plot was given in the episode description.

For novels, this is bad. For short stories, it’s unforgivable.

  • The perfect voice for storytelling

John has a perfect voice for reading these stories. It is a delight to hear him read O Henry or Lovecraft. I do wish he would make his background music a little less intrusive. But still this a top-notch podcast. Highly recommended!
