Great guests, terrible awkward interviewing. Host better with the written word I think.

  • Amazing storytelling Average Host

The guests and stories are amazing and I’m thoroughly enjoying hearing from them. However, the host Georgie is not up to the job. Her introductions are being read word for word off a page, speaking too quickly and making it really obvious she is reading and hasn’t bothered to learn the script in advance. Her questions are really obvious, lacking nuance and she often makes basic comments and assumptions about the guests which are cringeworthy. It just goes to show podcasting isn’t easy!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sarah Wilson: I Moved To Paris At 50 Looking For Love
Q: Where are we supposed to be by now with climate and what led you to let go of hope?
Wilson explains that traditional hopeful narratives urged a return to 'business as usual,' which she rejects; instead, she emphasizes recognizing the realities of climate timelines and energy constraints, and finding a practical, truth-driven path forward rather than clinging to optimism.
Alexa Leary Was Told She’d Die - Now She’s a Gold Medallist
Q: What was the moment you first realized you could recover and return to sport?
She describes opening the door to recovery through rehab and the gradual regain of walking, talking, and control, which laid the groundwork for pursuing elite sport again, driven by a deep desire for independence and purpose.
Lisa Wilkinson: Behind The Career You Think You Know
Q: What was your initial reaction to the Evelyn Marsden idea?
I was hesitant at first due to the scale and complexity, but I trusted Vanessa Radnidge's instinct and decided to explore the possibility, recognizing a potentially untold Australian story worth pursuing.
Stephanie Browitt: “I Survived the Volcano. Half My Family Didn’t.”
Q: Tell me about those three men who came and got you, who saved your life.
Stephanie describes how three civilians on the mainland ran toward danger to rescue her, her father, and sister, prioritizing others' safety over their own and providing critical help that allowed them to reach hospital.
Danielle Bensky: I Was A Teenage Ballerina When I Met Jeffrey Epstein
Q: Can you describe how grooming begins and escalates, and how you recognized it from the start?
Danielle describes grooming as a gradual process that starts with seemingly benign conversations and help, then shifts to isolating control, normalization of inappropriate behavior, and pressure to comply, making it difficult to see the harm until much later. She highlights the importance of naming early warning signs and seeking trusted support.
