  • Great podcast!

I would love to hear more about how ideas turn out - what works and doesn’t. For example, you could have old guests come on and talk about their thesis from years ago and why they played out or didn’t.

  • Can’t pronounce his way out of a paper bag

Whenever I say to myself “I want to pronounce a word wrong” I pull this podcast up and just listen to the way he butchers peoples names and the names of their funds. Also it’s great to hear the ideas he likes because it’s great to do otherwise

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Carriage House's Will Cleary on $FTAI
Q: What is FTAI and why is it interesting?
FTAI is a vertically integrated platform that buys run-out aircraft engines, refurbishes modules, and offers a rapid module swap service to airlines, significantly reducing maintenance time and cost. Its asset-light growth via strategic capital initiatives and potential expansion into data-center turbine derivatives present substantial upside, supported by a scalable ecosystem and strong management alignment.
Flying through the Volaris thesis with Antipodes' Phillip Namara
Q: What are the implications of the merger between Volaris and Viva?
The merger could consolidate the market, enhancing pricing power and operational efficiencies, with potential stock valuation increases post-merger.
Flying through the Volaris thesis with Antipodes' Phillip Namara
Q: What is Volaris and why are they so interesting?
Volaris is a low-cost airline in Mexico focusing on domestic markets and offers low fares compared to bus travel, with significant growth opportunities.
Rules based investing with Methodical Investment's David Kaiser
Q: You've got a rules-based system, and it's heavily value-based, right? Leans value. The past, let's call it 10, but I think it's been more like 15 years. Growth has stomped value, right?
Despite the dominance of growth, there's confidence that historical data will reveal a return to value opportunities.
Rules based investing with Methodical Investment's David Kaiser
Q: If somebody's listening to this, they're like, oh, we've got a quant guy on, I want individual stocks. What's just one thing that fundamental qualitative investors, concentrated fundamental investors could take away from rules-driven, quantitative models that would just improve their investing overall?
Qualitative and subjective investing can be excellent; having rules and a process gives comfort in consistent performance over time.
